Hi teacher I am Marí Díaz of 3º B. I am reading Billy Elliot and there are some strangers words. What "picket line" means? Thank you and I hope you fun in the holidays.
Hi again I am María Díaz and in the page 4 said " We watch the scabs going into the mine in buses..." I search at google image and a dictionary, but I don´t understand. Thank you!
Hi María
"Picket" is "piquete de huelga", "piquet line" makes reference to the point where workers on strike stop and don't go to work. Those workers who are not on strike and cross the picket line to go to work are the scabs (esquiroles).
I hope you find this useful and keep on enjoying the reading and your holidays.
Valentín.
Thank so much!!
María Díaz
